About the VP of Operations/Chief Financial Officer

I always aspired to be an accountant and began my journey in government finance over twenty years ago. I received my Bachelors and Masters of Accounting and am a Certified Public Accountant, (CPA). It wasn’t until 1999 that I found my passion for higher education and received a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Florida in 2014.

I am the current Vice President of Operations at Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) and serve as the colleges Chief Financial Officer (CFO). I have been at the college since 2003 and during this time I have been involved with several community activities and a member in numerous professional organizations. I have been actively involved in funding models for colleges and served as a member of the State of Florida Funding Formula Committee and led a committee to develop the state performance funding model for community colleges. I have served as a chair for many groups such as The Florida Council of Business Affairs (COBA) and chaired numerous workgroups for the Florida College System Council of Presidents on various topics such as cybersecurity. In addition, I currently serve on the Florida Rick Management Consortium Operations Committee that provides health, liability, property and casualty insurance for the Florida Colleges.

I am also actively involved with accreditation for colleges and serve as a peer reviewer for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). I have reviewed numerous colleges compliance with accreditation standards in Georgia, Mississippi and Texas.

I am passionate about assisting students in pursuing their educational goals as well as mentoring staff to achieve their career aspirations. I took this passion to the classroom and began teaching in 2015. I currently teach Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting and Government Accounting.

When not at work, my weekends typically consist of participating in fitness activities such as 5k runs/races. I also enjoy volunteering at local animal shelters, my local church and the Ronald McDonald House.
